Quick Facts about Steamboat

One of the most popular and largest resorts in North America

The Town

An authentic western cattle town with a long, rich history and cowboy flair.  Steamboat is a big mountain, with world-renowned tree skiing and champagne powder.   A very convenient and affordable resort offering strong community feel, the friendliest people around, very little crime, festive atmosphere, and a casual presence .

Location in Colorado   (Colorado map)

North-central Colorado. The three closest airports are Hayden (HDN) 22 miles (30 minutes) from the resort, Eagle (EGE) 95 miles (2 hours), and Denver (DEN) 180 miles (3.5 hours) from the area.

The Mountain

An impressive 3,668 foot vertical drop onto nearly 3,000 acres of ski-able terrain. Twenty-two lifts service the terrain, categorized as 13% beginner, 56% intermediate, and 31% advanced.

Steamboat is best-known as an intermediate's mountain, and the premier tree-skiing mountain in the country. Advanced skiers will find nice bump runs, but there is not a great deal of steep terrain. While geared towards intermediates, very few visitors have any complaints about the terrain - mostly because the mountain is so large.
